1. What operating system do I need to run MarketSmith?

Windows XP Service Pack 2 and above; Vista; Windows 7 & 8 (both 32-bit and 64-bit operating systems) Apple Mac OS X 10.4.8 or above.

2. What browsers support MarketSmith?

MarketSmith is supported by the following browsers: Internet Explorer (32-bit) 7, 8, 9; Firefox 3.6+ ;and Safari 4+ on Macs only.

3. Can I access MarketSmith using a 32-bit or 64-bit operating system?

Yes. MarketSmith is functional in both a 32-bit and 64-bit operating system.

4. What screen resolution should I use with Windows?

MarketSmith is optimized for use with a minimum Screen Resolution setting of 1280x1024. If you are unable to view a full chart or if some data points appear to be missing, please verify your display type and Screen Resolution setting to ensure that it meets the minimum requirement.

Please note that if you are using a wide-screen display, it may not be possible to adjust your setting to 1280x1024. If this occurs you may view a complete chart with all data points by minimizing the List Panel in MarketSmith.

To adjust your Screen Resolution settings on

Windows XP:

  1. RIGHT-click on your desktop
  2. From the menu, select Properties
  3. Click the Settings tab
  4. Under the Screen Resolution area, slide the tab toward More
  5. Find a setting that is 1280 x 1024 or better
  6. Click Apply and OK

Windows Vista:

  1. RIGHT-click on your desktop
  2. From the menu, Select “Personalize”
  3. Click on “Display Settings”
  4. Move the Resolution setting to at 1280 x 1024 or higher
  5. Click Apply and OK

Windows 7:

  1. RIGHT-click on your desktop
  2. From the menu, Select “Screen Resolution”
  3. Change Resolution setting to 1280 x 1024 or higher
  4. Click Apply and OK
5. What screen resolution should I use with a Mac?

MarketSmith is optimized for use with a minimum Screen Resolution setting of 1280x1024. If you are unable to view a full chart or if some data points appear to be missing, please verify your display type and Screen Resolution setting to ensure that it meets the minimum requirement.

Please note that if you are using a wide-screen display, it may not be possible to adjust your setting to 1280x1024. If this happens you may view a complete chart with all data points by minimizing the List Manager Panel in the MarketSmith Online Tool.

To adjust your Screen Resolution settings on Mac’s:

  1. From the dashboard icons, select System Preferences (Gear Icon)
  2. Select Displays
  3. Choose 1280 x 1024 or better
  4. Close System Preferences box after the display refreshes
